Especially for most young romantic girls, I believed that you shouldn’t be unfamiliar with a restaurant named “Lavender Cottage”. Although it has no branch in Taipei, we still regard it as a primary choice during our vacation. It is impressed by its delicate decoration, relaxed atmosphere and delicious meals.

Lavender Cottage was built by two girls, who had the same dream to chase a simple lifestyle. One was a piano teacher from Kaohsiung and the other worked in a foreign bank in Taipei. They both liked to research the Western herbs and hoped to find a place far from noisy surrounding. They decided to quit their jobs to set up a ideal cottage in the country. Finally, they found a suitable field in Taichung. They built the house and the garden all by themselves, and they planted some lavenders and herbs in the garden. They weeded, digged, arranged the trail, irrigated and decorated the house. They tried to create an unhurried feeling and express their philosophy of life to the guests.

Lavender Cottage has four branches in Taiwan, which locate in 台中新社、新竹尖石、苗栗明德and南投清境.Besides the four branches in central Taiwan, there are two chain enterprise called Hakka lifestyle restaurant and Adagio Inn. All the six locations endeavor to bring the steady and leisure spirit to the guests. They hope people to forget how busy they might seem on the outside, try to relax for a while and behave at a slow tempo.

It has multiple choices in the menu. You may order a set, including soup, herb bread, green salad, main course, drink and dessert. It also has different kind of main course to choose, such as pasta, steak, roasted chicken, hot pot. The prize is about $400~500 per person. Or you may order the famous afternoon tea, including dessert and a pot of hot herb tea. It doesn’t only have a clear environment, but also has delicious dishes. The dishes taste good. All their services are nice, too.

Lavender Cottage looks like a big garden and has its own forest. Besides having a meal in the restaurant, you can shop in the store full of the products made by herbs. The products are organic and natural. They look cute and elaborate, so some girls would like to gather. After your meal, you also can take a walk in the forest to breathe the Phytoncid. There are some ecological information on the sides of the trails. It is appropriate for a family, a group of friends, a couple and even a party for the pet owners.

It’s OK if you have only a half day off. You can just stop you footsteps, drive here to enjoy the slow pace. If you haven’t been here before, you could try once. Lavender Cottage is not merely a restaurant, and I believe you would love it!!
